PHOENIX, AZ — McCarthy Building Companies announces Chris Anvik has been promoted to Business Unit Leader for the firm’s national Water Group, based in Phoenix, Arizona. Anvik has been leading water and wastewater construction teams for McCarthy for nearly 20 years, building major water infrastructure projects and related technical upgrades on aging infrastructure for communities in Arizona, Texas, California, Colorado, Nevada, and throughout the Midwest.

As the Business Unit Leader, Anvik oversees operations of the Water Group, which focuses primarily on building water infrastructure utilizing collaborative delivery methods, including construction manager at risk, design-build, and job order contracting. Anvik will oversee a cadre of subject matter experts assisting water utility owners with funding analysis, membrane system selection, constructability, cost estimating, value engineering, and early material procurement.

McCarthy’s national Water Group also includes a full complement of self-perform construction services including concrete, mechanical, earthwork, and underground piping. He also oversees the team’s project directors who work directly with project owners, design teams, and trade partners on water and wastewater projects, while directing the group’s strategic planning, new market growth, business development initiatives, and client relations. Anvik is stepping into this leadership role, which was previously held by Joseph Brunsman who has transitioned to the Leader of McCarthy’s Colorado office.

“Chris and Joe worked well together to expand McCarthy’s expertise in collaborative delivery,” said Justin Kelton, President of McCarthy’s Southwest Region where the firm’s national Water Group is based. “Chris and his team are well-positioned to continue developing the team and offering our clients industry-leading strategies to most effectively manage one of our most precious and critical natural resources.”

Anvik previously served as Senior Vice President of Preconstruction for McCarthy’s Water Group where he focused on enhancing the collaborative experience between owner, designer, and contractor with the goal of efficiently providing communities with clean water and environmentally safe wastewater management. He has extensive experience working with the team’s technical experts and has been instrumental in developing the firm’s progressive design-build expertise.
