Macias brings over a decade of transit experience, including working with transit agencies across the country to develop zero emission bus plans and deployment projects for the past five years. She has worked with small and large agencies on projects intended for rural and urban communities. Most of her career has been spent as a Project Manager for transit projects, and she now specializes in zero emissions planning and implementation.
“I am really looking forward to working with transit agencies and fleet operators to successfully transition their fleets to zero emission vehicles,” Macias said. “One of the challenges that agencies face when making the move to zero emission vehicles is ensuring resiliency of the fuel source. With more frequent extreme weather events, there is increasing stress on the power grid, which may lead to more frequent power outages. Fortunately, there are a growing number of innovative solutions to allow EV fleets to charge even when blackouts occur.”
Macias led the Regional Transportation District’s Zero Emission Bus Planning program, which included coordinating the Reimagine RTD Zero Emission Bus Plan; managing state and federal grant applications for zero emission vehicle funding; developing strategic partnerships with key transportation electrification stakeholders and advocacy groups; and negotiating an EV rate with RTD’s utility. She also worked with agencies moving toward a zero emission bus transition in Arizona, South Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and Oklahoma.
Macias is the Chair of the American Public Transportation Association’s Zero Emission Fleet Committee and a member of the Women of EVs Colorado chapter.
