LEBANON, PA — The leadership team Arthur Funk & Sons, Inc., Construction Services, recently announced the two students awarded the Henry Funk Memorial Scholarship. The students are Matthew Brown, a senior at a Lebanon High School, and Matthew Leedy, a senior at Cedar Crest High School.

According to Ken Funk, Vice President and Project Manager, each Senior will receive $1,000 toward their continuing education as they pursue an occupation in the construction trades.

“The scholarship was named in honor of our father Henry Funk,” said Funk, speaking on behalf of his brothers, Bob Funk and Dave Funk. “Henry Funk was a steward of the community who believed in returning many of the gifts that he received in order to help others. His vision was always to provide high quality construction that leaves a legacy in the community. This scholarship continues that vision to assist others in achieving their goals for the future.”

Brown, an honor roll student, will pursue a degree in electrical technology from the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Lancaster. He has been active in his school as a student government officer and active in sports playing on the soccer, basketball, football, and volleyball teams. He has volunteered in the community with Habitat for Humanity working to renovate and build housing for those in need.

Leedy, a member of the National Honor Society, will also be pursing a degree in electrical technology at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport. Active in sports, he received varsity letters in soccer. His goal in the future is to use his skills and talents to focus efforts on helping rebuild communities after disasters.
